Tehran: Iran’s top security official, Mohsen Rezaei, has warned that if Iran is attacked, Iran will use new weapons to inflict devastating damage on the attacker. However, he also stated that the path to diplomacy and dialogue will remain open if Iran’s seven conditions are met.
In a post on the social media platform, Rezaei stated that it is essential to fulfill the seven conditions announced by Iran. If these conditions are accepted, the path to dialogue could open.
He further warned that if any action is taken against the country, the armed forces will respond as directed by the Supreme Leader and will inflict heavy losses on the attacker with new weapons.
Earlier, Rezaei had stated that until Iran’s seven conditions are met, there will be no talks with the US and the Strait of Hormuz will remain closed. According to Al Jazeera, he also clarified that Iran’s conditions are completely different from the proposed framework for the Islamabad talks.
Iran presents seven conditions to the US before the talks
Iran says the US must accept its seven conditions to resume peace talks and reopen the Strait of Hormuz. According to Al Jazeera, Rajai stated that these conditions were presented in September, though he did not disclose all of them. Later, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi provided more details about these demands.
Iran’s key demands include the lifting of US sanctions imposed after the breakdown of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in July. Additionally, Iran has demanded a reduction in US military presence in the region, the restoration of oil-related concessions granted under the MoU in June, and the release of frozen Iranian assets held in Qatar and other locations.
Tehran has also demanded formal recognition of the new sea route established by Iran and Oman through the Strait of Hormuz and the closure of all other routes. Iran also wants an end to the war on all fronts, especially the cessation of Israeli attacks on Lebanon.
Iran calls talks a positive sign regarding US proposal
Razai’s latest warning comes at a time when diplomatic contacts are ongoing between Washington and Tehran regarding the framework of possible talks.
Earlier, Razai had said that the letter sent through US Vice President JD Vance had completely changed the US stance. He described it as a positive sign for Iran.
According to Al Jazeera, in an interview with state broadcaster IRIB, Razai said that the US stance has completely changed, which is a good sign that the Iranian people have secured their victory.
The letter was delivered to Razai, Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, on Sunday through Qatari mediators. According to The New York Times, the US proposal called for direct talks led by Vance. It proposed that Iran’s nuclear program be included in the discussions from the outset.
The Wall Street Journal, citing a source, reported that the letter presented a framework for negotiations rather than the terms of a specific peace agreement. The letter was sent at the direction of US President Donald Trump.
Earlier, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi told Al Jazeera that Tehran had studied the letter and considered the US effort to initiate talks a positive step. He also stated that an aide had been sent to Doha for discussions with mediators.
Al Jazeera, citing sources, reported that a meeting could take place within a week. Doha or Istanbul are being considered as possible locations.
Iran’s Supreme Leader Warns the US and Israel
Meanwhile, Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei has also warned the US and Israel. He stated that the Iranian military would respond to any mistake or action by either country in a manner that would not be geographically limited.
Khamenei stated that if the enemy once again launches military or terrorist attacks, the Islamic Republic’s armed forces and the Iranian people would decide for themselves when and under what circumstances to repel such attacks.
Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump has also threatened to target Iran’s remaining nuclear sites. He stated that the US could carry out such action in just 10 minutes.
During the Halloween event, Trump stated that Iran wants a deal and that negotiations are going well, but Tehran cannot be fully trusted. When asked if he would order another attack on Iran, he dismissed the question as “stupid,” saying, “Suppose I did, would I tell you? I can’t tell you that.”
