Rajasthan, April 12: In Jaipur, a young woman extorted ₹13 lakh from a young man by threatening to ensnare him in a honeytrap. For nine years, the woman blackmailed the man and continued to extract money from him by threatening to implicate him in a rape case. Furthermore, to intimidate him, she even withdrew the case twice, yet she persisted with her blackmailing activities. Acting on the complaint filed by the victim, the police have registered an FIR and initiated an investigation.
The police stated that the complaint was lodged by a young man who is a resident of Jaipur. He lives in rented accommodation and works in the private sector. Between 2015 and 2018 while he was living in a rented house he used to assist a female neighbour whenever she was in need of money.
It is alleged that after he moved out and relocated to a different residence, the accused blackmailer began threatening to frame him in a rape case and have him sent to jail, thereby setting up her extortion scheme to extract money from him.
Statement Changed in Exchange for Money
It is alleged that in 2018, after being refused money, a young woman filed a case of molestation against the victim. Threatening to have him sent to jail, she demanded ₹200,000. When the money was not paid, she had charges of rape and violations under the SC/ST Act added to the case. Subsequently, she began demanding ₹500,000 in exchange for settling the matter as promised. Through threats and blackmail the young woman eventually settled on a deal for ₹300,000 and extorted the sum. Upon changing her statement, she retracted her earlier allegations, stating that no rape had actually occurred. Consequently, the police filed a Final Report in the matter.
Money Extorted a Second Time to Withdraw Case
Even after this, the blackmailing continued, with the young woman threatening to defame him within the community unless she received money. Out of fear, he remained silent and continued to pay her. Eventually, mustering the courage to refuse further payments, he filed a complaint in court; this led to charges being leveled against her under sections related to rape, molestation, the IT Act, and the SC/ST Act. He then paid the blackmailer ₹200,000 to finally be rid of her. The accused woman withdrew the case after receiving the money.
Continued to Extort Money Through Intimidation
The victim alleges that even after extorting money through police cases on two separate occasions, the blackmailing did not cease. She began extorting ₹10,000 per month by threatening to have him imprisoned on the rape charges. She even began intimidating and threatening him regarding his upcoming salary payments in December 2025. Over the past nine years, approximately ₹1.3 million has been extorted from him through blackmail.
Finally, unable to endure the torment of the blackmail any longer, the victim filed a formal complaint against the accused blackmailer. The police have now commenced an investigation into the matter.
