Jalandhar: Security agencies in Jalandhar were put on high alert after bomb threats were reportedly issued to the Deputy Commissioner’s (DC) Office, the Municipal Corporation office, and the Railway Station. The threat messages allegedly cited the June 6, 1984 Darbar Sahib incident as the motive behind the planned attacks.
According to sources, the threatening messages warned of explosions at the key public institutions, prompting an immediate response from the police and security agencies. Bomb disposal squads, dog squads, and police teams were deployed to the affected locations, where extensive searches were carried out.
Officials said security has been significantly tightened at government buildings, transportation hubs, and other sensitive locations across the city. Preliminary searches did not reveal any suspicious objects or explosive materials.
The police have launched an investigation to trace the origin of the threat messages. Cyber experts have also been engaged to examine digital evidence and identify those responsible for issuing the threats.
Authorities have appealed to the public to remain calm and refrain from spreading unverified information. Senior officials stated that strict action would be taken against anyone found involved in creating panic or threatening public safety.
The investigation is ongoing, and security agencies remain on alert ahead of June 6.
