Jalandhar: To maintain law and order in Jalandhar, Police Commissioner Dhanpreet Kaur has issued strict orders regarding restaurants, clubs, and other licensed eating and drinking establishments. According to these orders, issued under Section 163 of the Indian Civil Security Code, 2023, all restaurants, clubs, and food outlets in Jalandhar will now remain open until 12 midnight.

No Entry or New Orders After 11:30 PM

The orders clearly state that no new orders will be taken or new customers will be allowed into any restaurant, club, or eating place after 11:30 p.m. Premises associated with liquor stores will also be closed at 12 midnight or as per the terms of their license.

Strict Curbs on Noise Pollution

The Police Commissioner has also issued strict guidelines regarding noise pollution. All institutions must adhere to the prescribed limit of 10 decibels (A). All sound sources, including DJs, live orchestras, or singers, must be shut down or their volume must be limited by 10 p.m. Under these orders, noise emanating from any building or campus after 10 p.m. must not be audible outside its walls.

Music in Vehicles Not Allowed to Be Audible Outside

In the case of vehicles equipped with music systems, it must be ensured that the music is not audible outside the vehicle at any time.

Complete Ban on Carrying Weapons at Public Places

Additionally, the Police Commissioner has imposed a complete ban on carrying weapons at public and religious places, wedding ceremonies, parties, marriage palaces, hotels, and halls under Rule 32 of the Arms Rules 2016.

Songs and Social Media Posts Displaying Weapons Prohibited

These orders also strictly prohibit songs displaying weapons, and uploading photos or videos with weapons to social media. Action will be taken against such activities on platforms like Facebook, WhatsApp, Spotify, and Instagram.

Ban on Hate Speech and Modified Silencers

In addition, a complete ban has been imposed on the use of hate speech against any community. Another order prohibits vehicles that make technical modifications to their silencers, resulting in firecracker-like noise, within Jalandhar’s borders. No shopkeeper or mechanic will manufacture or tamper with silencers that do not conform to prescribed standards.

Orders Valid Till March 7, 2026

All these orders issued by the Police Commissioner will remain in effect until March 7, 2026, and strict legal action will be taken against violators.
