Jalandhar: Panic spreads in several schools in Jalandhar after receiving a bomb threat email. Classes were immediately closed and school lights were switched off. After this, parents were informed through WhatsApp, phone calls and school app to immediately pick up their children from school.
DC assures students and guardians
Jalandhar Police Commissioner Dhanpreet Kaur and Deputy Commissioner Dr. Himanshu Agarwal said in a press conference that parents and students do not need to panic. The police and cyber cell are investigating the matter and have not identified any suspicious object or threat yet. They appealed to all school administrations to remain vigilant.
Which schools were affected?
According to police sources, the schools affected by the threat email include KMV School, St. Joseph Convent School, Ivy World School and Shiv Jyoti School. The police have searched the school premises and increased security.
Earlier, threatening emails were received.
Earlier, three schools in Amritsar had received bomb threats. The Khalistan Referendum organization has claimed responsibility for these threats. However, the police are yet to identify the culprits.
Police investigation is ongoing
The DC said that the investigation into the matter is ongoing and parents and students should not pay attention to any rumours. Additional security and surveillance have been increased in all schools.
