Jagran Correspondent, Jammu. The weather in Jammu and Kashmir is likely to change in the coming days. According to the weather department, on May 9, the weather across the state will generally remain dry, while on May 10, after clear weather during the day, there may be light rain or showers in some areas in the evening and night.
According to the forecast, from May 11 to 13, in many areas of Jammu and Kashmir, the weather will generally remain cloudy, with the possibility of light to moderate rain and showers accompanied by thunder and lightning. During this period, there is a possibility of hailstorms, heavy thunder, lightning, and strong winds blowing at a speed of 40 to 50 kilometers per hour in some areas.
According to the Meteorological Department, the weather may remain partly cloudy from May 14 to 16, while on May 17 and 18, light rain and thunderstorm activities may be observed in various parts of the state.
Rain will occur along with strong winds. The department has issued an advisory advising people to stay alert, especially in some areas of the Kashmir Division and Jammu Division, from the evening of May 10 to May 13, considering the possibility of hail, strong winds, and lightning. According to the Meteorological Department, during May 11 to 13, daytime temperatures may drop by 3 to 5 degrees Celsius.
The weather in Jammu and Kashmir is showing different shades these days. While the weather in the Jammu Division remains relatively pleasant and temperatures are recorded below normal in most areas, in the Kashmir Valley, summer has arrived earlier than the usual time. In many parts of the valley, daytime temperatures are 5 to 7 degrees Celsius higher than normal.
32 degrees temperature in Katra
On Saturday, the maximum temperature in Jammu was recorded at 35.1 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature was 22.6 degrees Celsius. In Banihal, the maximum temperature was recorded at 30.0 degrees Celsius and the minimum at 11.1 degrees Celsius.
In Batote, the maximum temperature was recorded at 24.6 degrees Celsius and the minimum at 14.1 degrees Celsius. At Katra, the base camp of Mata Vaishno Devi, the maximum temperature was 32.0 degrees Celsius and the minimum was 19.6 degrees Celsius. Bhaderwah recorded a maximum temperature of 28.8 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 11.0 degrees Celsius.
On the other hand, temperatures in the Kashmir Valley have remained well above normal. Srinagar recorded a maximum temperature of 31.7 degrees Celsius, which is 7.6 degrees Celsius higher than normal, while the minimum temperature was 12.5 degrees Celsius.
Pahalgam recorded a maximum temperature of 25.2 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 4.8 degrees Celsius, while Gulmarg recorded a maximum temperature of 23.0 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 8.0 degrees Celsius.
