A 26-year-old man identified as Rohit Masih was found dead under mysterious circumstances along a roadside near a canal on the outskirts of Jandiala Guru town in Amritsar district on Tuesday, police said.
According to a complaint by Rohit’s father, the youth had left home on Monday morning for work as usual but did not return by evening. Repeated calls to his mobile went unanswered, and his family could not locate him overnight.
Discovery and Family Concerns
The body was later spotted by a local milk vendor lying beside the road. On reaching the site, Rohit’s family noticed visible injury marks around his neck, leading them to suspect foul play rather than natural causes.
Police Investigate All Angles
Officers from the Jandiala police station reached the scene soon after being informed. Rohit’s body was sent for post-mortem examination, with officials indicating that preliminary signs are suspicious.
Police have begun examining call records, reviewing CCTV footage from nearby areas, and questioning local residents to trace Rohit’s last known movements and determine what happened.
“Postmortem was conducted today and the exact cause of death will be clear in the autopsy report,” said SHO Naresh Kumar. Police added that all angles, including personal enmity and robbery, are being probed.
Family’s Demand for Clarity
Rohit’s relatives are pressing for a thorough investigation, expressing fear that the circumstances surrounding his death are not just accidental. The case has stirred concern among local residents, with many urging swift action and transparency from law enforcement.
