The individuals accused of Sahil’s murder were already aware of his location. CCTV footage clearly indicates that the accused knew beforehand that Sahil was sitting inside a hut situated within the plot. Prima facie, the police also consider this to be a premeditated murder. Additionally, the police are investigating the angle of a prior reconnaissance (recon).
The footage reveals that, at approximately 11:00 AM, an unregistered Scorpio SUV pulls up and stops on Sampla Road. Subsequently, after carrying out the crime, the accused are seen fleeing in the direction of Jhajjar. The CCTV footage shows two young men alighting from the front seats of the vehicle, while a third young man steps out from the rear seat.
The young man exiting from the back seat first adjusts his clothing. He then draws a pistol from his clothes; however, the weapon accidentally discharges while he is in the process of drawing it. Following this, the accused enters the hut located within the plot and opens fire indiscriminately.
The CCTV footage captures Sahil attempting to evade the gunfire by rushing out of the hut and into the open plot area. The accused pursues him outside. The accused’s two accomplices remain stationed at the gate, firing shots into the interior. During this sequence, the CCTV audio records the sound of approximately 15 gunshots.
Amidst the exchange of fire, one of the two young men standing outside enters the premises, joins the other accused, and then flees back out. Subsequently, all three accused board their vehicle and make their escape.
One Youth Narrowly Escapes; the Other Remains Inside
At the time of the incident, two of Sahil’s companions—Praveen and Sujesh (alias ‘Khoti’)—were present with him. When the accused arrived, one of the youths sitting inside attempted to exit; however, the individuals stationed at the gate opened fire.
The youth narrowly escaped injury and managed to flee into the adjacent lane through a gate situated alongside the wall. While running, he stumbled and fell once in the lane, but quickly regained his footing and successfully continued his escape down the street, whereas the other youth remained trapped inside.
As soon as the attackers, having shot Sahil, exited the premises, the second youth rushed to the gate and secured it shut. Upon hearing the sound of gunshots, elderly residents from the neighborhood stepped outside, prompting the accused to flee.
Five Teams Formed
The police have intensified their investigation into the fatal shooting of a young man named Sahil. Police Commissioner Dr. Rajshree Singh stated that, considering the gravity of the case, five special police teams have been constituted to conduct investigations from various angles.
