Ranchi: Thousands of job aspirants staged a massive protest in Ranchi on Wednesday against alleged irregularities and unresolved issues in recruitment examinations conducted by the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) and the Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC). The protesters warned that if the state government fails to address their demands, they will convert Jaipal Singh Munda Stadium into a permanent protest site on the lines of Delhi’s Jantar Mantar.
Constitution March Draws Thousands
The aspirants organised a ‘Constitution March’ from Jaipal Singh Munda Stadium to Albert Ekka Chowk, with participants arriving from several districts across Jharkhand.
Despite intermittent rain, the march witnessed a large turnout. Protesters briefly paused during a heavy downpour before resuming their march once the rain subsided.
To maintain law and order, the administration deployed a heavy police force along the protest route.
Aspirants Demand Transparency in Recruitment
Carrying banners and placards, protesters demanded greater transparency and accountability in the recruitment process.
The demonstrators raised concerns over alleged irregularities in JPSC and JSSC examinations, including the Excise Constable recruitment process. They also sought accountability from the recruitment bodies and called for corrective measures to restore confidence among candidates.
The protesters said their agitation would continue until the government takes concrete steps to ensure fair recruitment and address pending demands.
Warning of Indefinite Protest
The aspirants warned that if their demands remain unaddressed, they will begin an indefinite dharna at Jaipal Singh Munda Stadium and intensify the movement in phases.
The protest also affected traffic across Ranchi, with congestion reported on major routes, including Kachahari Chowk, Albert Ekka Chowk, Main Road, Radium Road and Lalpur Road, causing long delays for commuters.
The demonstration continued till late Wednesday evening as protesters awaited the government’s response.
