A bus carrying Amarnath Yatra pilgrims met with an accident in the Hariganiwan area of ​​Gund, Ganderbal district. The bus lost control near a sharp bend known as ‘S-Mod’ and plunged into a deep gorge. Dozens of passengers sustained serious injuries in this severe accident, causing chaos at the scene. As per reports, the bus was carrying nearly 40 passengers, of which 30 have been injured in this accident.

Upon receiving news of the accident, local police and the administration swung into action. Station House Officer (SHO) Raees Ahmed immediately dispatched a rescue team to the site. The Gund police launched a rescue operation without delay. Extricating the injured passengers from the bus proved to be a challenging task.

The accident occurred when the Amarnath Yatra bus bearing registration number AR11 D5655 lost control near Hariganiwan, causing it to skid off the road and plunge into a deep gorge. Rescue teams, police, SDRF, and local volunteers immediately rushed to the spot and launched a rescue operation.

Police personnel, assisted by locals, safely brought the passengers out. Additional forces arrived at the scene to expedite the rescue efforts. All the injured were provided with immediate first aid and subsequently sent to nearby hospitals for further treatment. Several passengers are reported to be in critical condition.

Collaboration of Various Forces in the Rescue Operation
Multiple security agencies worked together in this rescue operation. Personnel from the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) actively participated. The 118 Battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) also provided significant assistance. Personnel from the 2 Assam Rifles and 21 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) were also present at the site. The Yatra police assisted in identifying and helping the passengers.

Treatment of the Injured and Current Status
All injured passengers rescued from the accident site were immediately admitted to hospitals. Doctors are closely monitoring their condition. While some passengers sustained minor injuries, others suffered serious ones. The administration has initiated the process of informing the families of the injured. Detailed information regarding the incident is currently awaited.
