Indore: Madhya Pradesh Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya on Sunday revealed what he described as the inside story behind former Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation, claiming that Pradhan had offered to step down from the very first day of the student protests.
Vijayvargiya said Pradhan had informed the party leadership that he was ready to resign if the organisation believed it was necessary. The remarks came after Pradhan resigned as Education Minister amid nationwide protests over alleged paper leaks and examination irregularities.
Vijayvargiya Says Pradhan Was Ready to Resign From Beginning
Speaking to reporters in Indore, Vijayvargiya praised Pradhan’s commitment and said he had handled his responsibilities with dedication.
“I have known Dharmendra Pradhan for many years. He performs every responsibility with complete dedication. From the very first day of the movement, he told the party leadership, ‘If you feel that I should resign, I will do so,'” Vijayvargiya said.
He added that the party leadership initially decided to discuss the matter before taking a final decision. According to him, when the situation changed, Pradhan submitted his resignation within minutes.
Targets Congress Over Student Protest Movement
Vijayvargiya also criticised the Congress party, alleging that it did not have any major role in the student protests and only attempted to gain political advantage from the situation.
“The students launched the agitation, and Congress merely stood behind them,” he said, adding that opposition parties found an opportunity through the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) movement.
He questioned whether any Congress leader faced police action during the protests and alleged that the Opposition was trying to take credit for a student-led movement.
Pradhan Resigns Amid Paper Leak Controversy
Dharmendra Pradhan resigned as the Union Education Minister on Saturday amid growing protests over alleged paper leaks and irregularities in the examination system.
While submitting his resignation, Pradhan said he remained committed to students, teachers and education reforms. He thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for giving him the opportunity to serve the country.
The resignation came after weeks of student-led protests demanding accountability and stronger measures to ensure transparency in competitive examinations.
