Jalandhar, August 12: Punjabi singers Karan Aujla and Honey Singh had apologized to the Punjab Women’s Commission for the language used in their songs. After the commission issued a notice, Karan Aujla has now returned to India. He arrived at Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) late on Monday evening.
Karan Aujla may soon appear before Punjab Women Commission Chairperson Lali Gill. He had asked for a week’s time to appear in person. Along with this, AIG of Punjab Police Yadvinder Singh Sidhu has also submitted his report to the commission, in which it has been said that both the singers will appear in person soon.
Controversy arose over Aujla’s MF Gabru song.
Punjab Women Commission Chairperson Raj Lali Gill had said that she herself had heard the songs of Honey Singh and Karan Aujla on social media. The commission had written to the police that Honey Singh’s song ‘Millionaire’ used objectionable language against women.
At the same time, in Karan Aujla’s song ‘MF Gabru’, inappropriate words have been used for women, which is completely wrong. The Women’s Commission had ordered the DGP to instruct an officer of the Punjab Police of Chandigarh to investigate this matter and take strict action.
Both the singers were in controversy earlier also
Karan Aujla Controversy (December 2024)- During his show in Chandigarh, he was accused of promoting alcohol in his songs. The matter reached the High Court, after which the police intervened and stopped him from singing such songs during the show.
Honey Singh Controversy (March 2025)- BJP had objected to his show in Chandigarh on Shaheedi Diwas on March 23. The party had written a letter to the administrator saying that on this day Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev were hanged, and such programs can have a wrong impact on the youth. Honey Singh had started the program ‘Main Fan Singh Bhagat Singh’ on that day.
