Last night, an unidentified individual opened fire at a restaurant located on Kaithal Road in Asandh. The incident took place after the café had closed for the night. The owner only became aware of the incident upon arriving at the café the following morning.
Upon receiving the information, the police and the Asandh CIA team rushed to the scene and initiated an investigation. Two spent bullet casings were recovered from the road in front of the restaurant. Footage from nearby CCTV cameras is currently being scrutinized. As of now, there are no reports of anyone being injured.
Kuldeep Singh, a resident of Asandh, had opened his café on Kaithal Road just about a month ago. Last night, as was his daily routine, he closed the café and headed home. After his departure, an unidentified assailant fired at the glass facade of the closed café.
The bullet pierced through the shutter and struck the glass door, shattering it completely. Following the act, the accused fled the scene. Upon receiving the report in the morning, personnel from the Asandh Police Station and the CIA team arrived at the site. The police are currently examining the CCTV footage while simultaneously questioning the restaurant owner.
Taking the matter with utmost seriousness, the Asandh police are investigating every possible angle of the case. It remains unclear at this stage whether the shooting stems from an old personal vendetta or if it is linked to a demand for ransom.
The investigation is proceeding with both these possibilities in mind. This approach is being adopted because, prior to this incident, shootings had occurred at a hospital and a medical laboratory in Asandh; those cases were subsequently found to be linked to extortion. The police are now investigating the current case based on that precedent as well.
Incident Committed After 10:00 PM
Naseeb Singh, the Station House Officer (SHO) of the Asandh Police Station, stated that the incident occurred sometime after 10:00 PM. Two spent bullet casings have been recovered from the crime scene. Footage from nearby CCTV cameras is being reviewed, and the café owner is also being questioned.
