Kharge’s ‘Modi Ka Baap Bhi Jayega’ Remark Sparks Row; BJP Announces Nationwide Protests

New Delhi: Hindu Sena national president Vishnu Gupta has approached the Delhi Police seeking an FIR against Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge over his controversial remark about Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s late father at a public event in Patna. The BJP has also announced nationwide protests over the comment.

In a complaint submitted to the Commissioner of Police on Monday, Gupta alleged that Kharge used abusive language against the Prime Minister and his family. He urged the police to register an FIR and take legal action against the Congress leader.

Gupta said Kharge used the words “Modi ka baap” during his speech. He claimed that videos of the incident were being widely shared on television and social media and that the remark had hurt his sentiments and those of many others.

The complainant also expressed concern that such remarks could create tension in society and affect public order. He described the comment as disrespectful towards a constitutional post.

How the Controversy Started

The controversy began on Sunday when Kharge addressed a programme at Bapu Sabhagar in Patna to mark the birth anniversary of Bihar’s first Chief Minister, Sri Krishna Singh.

During the speech, a person in the audience reportedly interrupted Kharge, saying that Prime Minister Modi would not leave power. Kharge responded, “Modi ka baap bhi jayega,” triggering a political row.

Videos of the incident reportedly showed Congress workers confronting and assaulting the person who interrupted the speech.

BJP Leader Also Files Complaint in Patna

The controversy has also reached the police in Bihar. BJP leader Krishna Kumar, a member of the party’s state working committee, filed a complaint against Kharge at Patna’s Kotwali police station.

Kumar sought an investigation into the Congress president’s remarks. He said he learnt about the incident through television coverage and was hurt by the statement.

He urged the police to examine news reports, video footage and other available evidence to establish the exact words used and the context in which they were spoken.

BJP Announces Nationwide Protests

The BJP has announced nationwide protests against Kharge’s remarks and demanded an apology from the Congress president. The controversy has added to the political confrontation between the BJP and the Congress.

Meanwhile, the complaint submitted by Hindu Sena to Delhi Police seeks the registration of an FIR and legal action against Kharge. It remains a complaint seeking police action, not confirmation that an FIR has been registered in Delhi.
