Tragic road accident in Lahaul Spiti: Tempo Traveller overturns; 2 dead, 22 injured

Manali, June 17: A tempo traveller full of tourists overturned in Koksar of Lahaul-Spiti district of Himachal Pradesh on Monday evening. Two people including a woman from Haryana died in this accident. 22 tourists including a 2-year-old innocent were injured in the accident. All the injured have been admitted to Manali hospital for treatment.

There were 24 tourists from Faridabad in Haryana, Delhi, Bihar, West Bengal and Gujarat in the Tempo Traveller. A Tempo Traveller bearing Haryana’s Sonipat number (HR69F-3333) fell about 200 feet below the road and overturned. The accident occurred on Monday evening around 6 pm near Gramphu on the Koksar-Rohtang road.

9 injured referred to Mission Hospital and Kullu

With the help of local people, the police shifted all the injured to Manali Civil Hospital for treatment. 9 seriously injured people were referred to Mission Hospital Manali. The injured also include 2 twin girls aged around 5 to 6 years. Both have head injuries.

Deceased from Karnal-Faridabad

In this accident, 28-year-old Monika wife of Amit from Karnal Haryana and 32-year-old Ravi Gupta from Faridabad Haryana died. The postmortem of the bodies of the deceased will be conducted in Manali today (Tuesday). After this, the bodies will be handed over to the relatives.

There were tourists from 5 states on board

According to the police, there were tourists from 5 states in the tempo. DSP Kelang Rashmi said that according to preliminary information, this accident appears to have been caused by the driver’s negligence.
