The Home Affairs and Justice Department of the Punjab Government has promoted 85 Inspectors posted in various districts of Punjab Police to the post of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP). These orders were issued on the basis of the recommendations of the DPC held on May 23, 2025.

The promoted officers include officers from several districts including Ferozepur, SAS Nagar (Mohali), Jalandhar, Amritsar, Sangrur, Bathinda, Gurdaspur, Mansa, Faridkot, Tarn Taran, Patiala and Ludhiana.

Key points of promotion:

The promoted officers have been promoted to Level 18 Pay Scale 56100-177500. Officers against whom departmental action is going on or cases are pending will get the benefit of promotion only after the permission of the court or competent authority.

Some officers have been promoted on the basis of “eligibility for appointment to the post of DSP as per earned seniority”, who were eligible but were given promotion when the seat was available.

It has been clarified in the orders that promotions will be considered as effective as regular appointments. The concerned police offices have been directed to send a report on the implementation of promotion orders within a week.
