Kharar, July 19: Popular Punjabi singer and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) legislator from Kharar, Anmol Gagan Maan, has officially resigned from her MLA position. She submitted her resignation to the Punjab Assembly Speaker today and announced her decision to step away from active politics.
He wrote on social media- ‘My heart is heavy. I have decided to retire from politics.’
Anmol Gagan Maan is a famous Punjabi singer. In the 2022 assembly elections, AAP gave her a ticket from Kharar assembly seat in Mohali. After winning the election, she was made the Minister of Tourism and Culture. However, after the reshuffle, she was removed from the cabinet. She was away from political activities for some time.

Joined Aam Aadmi Party in 2020
Anmol Gagan Mann joined Aam Aadmi Party in the year 2020. She became MLA by defeating Ranjit Singh Gill of Akali Dal by 37,718 votes in Kharar seat in the 2022 assembly elections. She was among the youngest MLAs of Aam Aadmi Party who won the 2022 assembly elections. Anmol Gagan Mann also composed the campaign song of AAP in Punjab.
The person whom Anmol defeated can take his place
If the resignation of Anmol Gagan Mann is accepted, then a by-election will also be held on Kharar assembly seat. In such a situation, Ranjit Singh Gill can be the AAP candidate from here instead of Anmol Gagan Mann. Senior Shiromani Akali Dal leader and real estate businessman Ranjit Singh Gill had announced to leave the Akali Dal a day before Anmol’s resignation. In 2022, Anmol had defeated Ranjit Singh.
