Delhi: Junaid Khan and Khushi Kapoor are set to make their silver screen debuts alongside Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan in the upcoming romantic comedy Loveyapa. Directed by Advait Chandan, the film follows a young couple eager to tie the knot.
However, their modern Gen Z love story takes an unexpected turn when the bride’s father sets a unique challenge—asking them to swap their phones for 24 hours.
In a recent interview with Bollywood Hungama, director Advait Chandan confirmed that Aamir Khan will make a cameo appearance in Loveyapa. He stated, “He does. He’s there for two shots. When you watch the film, you’ll definitely see him.”
Chandan also admitted having initial reservations about casting Junaid and Khushi. He shared, “My problem was that I was not sure of Junaid and Khushi’s casting. I had never met Khushi before, and I was unsure if Junaid would be the right fit for the role.” However, after extensive rehearsals, the director grew confident in their on-screen chemistry and performances.
Praising both young actors, Chandan remarked, “Junaid is very different from his character, Gucci. He had to work very hard to find the Gaurav inside him.”
Loveyapa Release and OTT Availability
Reports suggest that Loveyapa will be available for streaming on Disney+ Hotstar following its theatrical release. However, an official announcement regarding its digital premiere is still awaited.
In an interview with The Indian Express, Junaid Khan expressed his wish to release the film on YouTube for free to maximise its audience reach. He said, “I would like our film to reach as wide an audience as possible… our producers and distributors have a better understanding of how this film can reach a wider audience — be it theatre, OTT or television.”
Loveyapa is set to release in cinemas on 7th February 2025.
