Mumbai: Renowned filmmaker Anurag Kashyap has confirmed his decision to leave Bollywood, citing the industry’s toxic environment and unrealistic expectations.

In an exclusive interview with the leading newspaper, Kashyap revealed he had moved out of Mumbai, a city where he spent decades building his career. Without disclosing his new location, reports suggest he has relocated to Bengaluru. The director expressed his discontent with the current state of the film industry, where chasing massive box office numbers has replaced creativity.

“The industry has become too toxic. Everyone is chasing unrealistic targets like Rs 500 or Rs 800 crore films. The creative atmosphere is gone,” Kashyap said.

He also mentioned that several filmmakers had already left Mumbai, with many moving to the Middle East, Europe, and the US.

Kashyap is currently promoting the Malayalam film Footage, featuring Manju Warrier. He will soon be seen portraying a fearless cop in the bilingual film Dacoit, alongside Adivi Sesh and Mrunal Thakur.
