Ariana Grande says commenting on people’s appearance is ‘dangerous’

Los Angeles: Ariana Grande has expressed that commenting on people’s appearances is “dangerous,” especially in light of the body-shaming she has faced for her slim figure. During an emotional interview with a French reporter on ‘Oui Oui Baguette’ alongside her ‘Wicked’ co-star Cynthia Erivo, the 31-year-old singer reflected on the overwhelming pressure women face to conform to beauty standards.

Grande shared her experiences in the public eye since she was 16, noting that she’s heard countless criticisms about her appearance, which seem to change over time. She emphasized the challenge of shielding oneself from such negativity, particularly when young and impressionable.

She pointed out that comments about weight, whether positive or negative, can be hurtful, using the example of family gatherings where such remarks are often made. Grande criticized the societal norm that allows people to freely comment on others’ looks, stating that it can be harmful for everyone involved.

She also recounted her significant weight loss while filming ‘Wicked’ in April 2023, and in a TikTok video, she urged people to be more considerate and less comfortable making judgments about others’ bodies.
