Toronto: On December 11, Toronto saw a significant demonstration as members of the Canadian Hindu community gathered outside the Bangladeshi Consulate to protest the ongoing violence against Hindus in Bangladesh. Organized by Canadian Hindu Volunteers, the event united individuals from various backgrounds in a call for global intervention against what they described as a “systematic campaign of genocide” aimed at the Hindu minority in Bangladesh.
Protesters accused the Bangladeshi government, led by controversial Islamist Muhammad Yunus, of facilitating widespread violence and discrimination against Hindus. They highlighted the desecration of ancient Hindu temples, the brutal killings of priests, and the wrongful imprisonment of community leaders. They claimed that Hindu professionals are being systematically removed from their jobs, their families face plunder, and women endure horrific sexual violence—part of an organized effort to erase Hindu culture and identity from Bangladesh.
The Canadian Hindu Volunteers expressed their frustration on social media, stating that the international community’s silence is “deafening.” They emphasized that this situation is not merely a crisis but a deliberate assault on human rights and religious freedom, urging immediate action before it’s too late.
Organizers stressed the urgent need for action, encouraging Canadians to pressure their elected officials to address the issue in Parliament and advocate for diplomatic measures against the Bangladeshi regime. They called on Canada to take the lead by imposing sanctions and using its global influence to hold those responsible accountable.
The demonstrators made a heartfelt appeal for justice, asserting that silence amounts to complicity. “This isn’t just about the Hindu community in Bangladesh; it’s about defending human dignity and freedom worldwide,” a post from Canadian Hindu Volunteers stated. They urged all Canadians to join their cause by writing to their elected representatives, demanding action, and holding the Bangladeshi regime accountable through diplomatic pressure and sanctions.
