Uttarkashi: A tremor was felt again in the border district of Uttarkashi, Uttarakhand, on Friday morning around 9:29 AM. People are frightened as there have been 9 earthquakes in six days. The intensity of the earthquake was measured at 2.7. There are no reports of any damage. Tremors were also felt on Thursday evening, prompting people to rush out of their homes, offices, and shops. The continuous earthquakes over the past six days have left the residents in fear.

Earthquake in Uttarkashi: An earthquake was also felt on Thursday evening in the headquarters of the district and surrounding areas of Maneri. Its epicenter was near Sarutal Lake in the Barkot tehsil. The strength of the earthquake was again recorded at 2.7 on the Richter scale. This marks the 9th tremor felt in the district over the last six days. The ongoing tremors have caused panic among the population.

9 Tremors in 6 Days: Earlier on Thursday evening, residents in the district headquarters were alarmed once more by the earthquake. As soon as the tremors struck, people rushed out of their homes. According to information from the District Disaster Control Room, this earthquake occurred at 7:31 PM, with its epicenter located near Sarutal Lake in the Yamunotri range, at a depth of five kilometers below the earth’s surface. The district administration has issued advisories in light of the earthquakes, advising people to move to safe locations and to report issues to toll-free numbers. The Uttarkashi district is highly vulnerable to earthquakes and is classified as Zone Five, having experienced several major earthquakes in the past.

On January 24 and 25, Uttarkashi experienced six tremors within 48 hours. After that, another earthquake occurred on January 29. With the tremors felt on the evening of January 30 and the morning of January 31, the total number of earthquakes in six days has now reached 9.
