Engine of moving train suddenly detached near Khanna; passengers panicked, stops after covering 10 km

Khanna : A major train accident was averted at Khanna railway station today when the engine of 12355 Archana Express from Patna to Jammu got detached from the coaches.

Passengers panicked after this incident. The engine moved about 10 km ahead of Khanna while coaches full of passengers remained standing on the railway lines near Samrala flyover ahead of Khanna.

When the passengers came to know about it, they immediately raised the alarm to the railway department. The railway department took immediate action and stopped the engine at New Khanna railway station, about 10 km from Khanna.

After about half an hour the engine was brought back and then it was again connected to the coaches. The accident took place at 9.30 am.

It is to be mentioned that there was no crowd of trains on the railway track due to farmers’ agitation, otherwise a major accident could have happened.

It is being told that the clamp between the box and the engine broke, causing the engine to separate. The Railway Department is doing investigation.
