Ensure action against illegal garbage vendors in Gurugram: Divisional Commissioner

Gurugram: On November 29, Gurugram Divisional Commissioner R.C. Bidhan instructed officials to take strict action against illegal garbage vendors who collect waste and charge residents for the service. He emphasized that officers monitoring the cleanliness campaign must verify the attendance of cleaning staff both in the morning and evening to ensure accountability, and any negligence would be met with penalties.

Bidhan reiterated that the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) had already implemented several measures to improve cleanliness and that officials must take action against those involved in illegal activities without hesitation.

Gurugram MLA Mukesh Sharma raised concerns about garbage being illegally transported from Delhi into the city, causing disruptions to the cleanliness system. He reported that vehicles from Delhi were dumping waste in various areas of Gurugram, such as Bajghera, Sector 21, Wazirabad, and Carterpuri, during the night. In response, the Divisional Commissioner directed the formation of a four-member team, including officials from the MCG, District Administration, Police, and RTA Department, to run a special night campaign to address the issue.

Bidhan also ordered MCG officials to station trolleys and dumpers at all garbage collection and secondary points throughout the city. Expressing dissatisfaction with the current performance of sanitary inspectors, he instructed them to improve cleanliness at all designated areas by Sunday. He further emphasized that the standard of cleanliness should be a garbage-free environment 24/7.
