Chandigarh : Chandigarh Police on Saturday evening stopped the live concert of Punjabi singer Hardy Sandhu, who had come to attend a private company’s program in Sector 34. The police had received information that permission for the show had not been taken from the administration. At 5:30 pm, a police team led by DSP Jaswinder Singh reached the ground of Sector 34 and stopped the show.
The police took Hardy Sandhu to Sector-34 police station for questioning. This angered the fans present at the concert. The police told the show’s organiser at the police station that they had received information that permission for the show had not been taken. After hearing this, the organiser told the police team that he had taken permission from the administration for the programme.
He also showed two permission letters to the police. After which the police team let Hardy Sandhu go. After this the concert resumed again. However, the police did not tell from whom they got the information about the concert not having permission.
There was controversy over Diljit’s concert as well
There was controversy before Diljit Dosanjh’s live concert in Sector-34 on 14 December 2024. Ranjit Singh, a resident of Sector-23, had demanded the cancellation of the concert. He had said in the petition that Diljit’s show would cause traffic chaos in the city. However, later the High Court gave permission with the condition of conducting the concert till 10 pm.
Notice issued to Diljit’s show organisers
After the show, a status report was filed in the High Court by the administration. In which the administration told the court that the sound level during the concert was found to be above the prescribed limit. The sound should not have gone above 75 decibels (DB), but during the concert the sound reached 82 decibels. On this the High Court had sought answers from the organisers.
After this, the High Court had ordered the administration not to give permission for any live concert in the Sector-34 ground.
