HAU warned farmers about climate change…
1. Crisis on wheat, mustard, barley and potato
Farmers were made aware about climate change in Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University. Vice Chancellor Prof. BR Kamboj said that due to climate change, the temperature is continuously increasing. Due to this, the risk of floods, drought, agricultural crisis, food security and diseases is also increasing, due to which there is a possibility of a decline in crop production.
The increase in the temperature of the atmosphere will also have an adverse effect on the production of various crops. Various crops including wheat, mustard, barley and potato require low temperatures while the increase in temperature is harmful for them. The increase in temperature can lead to the destruction of crops like maize, sorghum and paddy etc.
2. Advice to adopt plantation, soil management and drip irrigation
The Vice Chancellor told that due to climate change, the temperature increases and hence rainfall also decreases. Carbon dioxide, insects and diseases also increase due to climate change. The Vice Chancellor told the farmers that they can save the agriculture sector from climate change by doing plantation, soil management, drip irrigation and using solar energy. He said that by keeping small things in mind, farmers can contribute in stopping or reducing the rising temperature.
