"India emerging as a ray of hope for the world": PM Narendra Modi

New Delhi: During his address at the NDTV World Summit 2024, Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized that amidst global uncertainties, India stands out as a beacon of hope. He remarked that there is a prevailing sense of optimism regarding India, especially over the past four to five years. The Prime Minister noted the widespread concerns that have dominated discussions, particularly during the Covid-19 pandemic, where people worried about navigating the crisis, and later about issues like global supply chains, geopolitical conflicts, climate change, and unemployment. These challenges have fueled stress and tension in global forums.

Despite these myriad tensions, Modi pointed out that India has emerged as a hopeful figure on the global stage. He mentioned that even though India faces its own challenges, the prevailing positivity has contributed to its progress. Modi highlighted the country’s unprecedented advancements across various sectors, citing significant achievements over the last 125 days since the government was formed: the approval of 3 crore houses for the poor, the initiation of infrastructure projects worth Rs9 lakh crore, the launch of15 new Vande Bharat trains, and the construction of eight new airports. He also noted initiatives to support youth and elderly populations, including the installation of rooftop solar plants in five lakh homes and the planting of 90 crore trees under the “Ek Pedh Maa ke Naam” campaign. Furthermore, he mentioned that stock indices like Sensex and Nifty have risen by6 to7 percent, and foreign exchange reserves have surpassed $700 billion.

Modi stressed that India must set new goals to build on its successes. As one of the youngest nations globally, India has immense potential for growth, which requires prompt and focused efforts. He highlighted the importance of not just reflecting on past achievements, but also on future aspirations and objectives.

In this age of artificial intelligence (AI), Modi stated that India possesses a unique advantage. He referred to the concept of “double AI,” where the aspirations of the Indian populace meet the advancements of AI, accelerating the country’s development. The launch of the India AI Mission aims to integrate AI across various sectors such as healthcare, education, and MSMEs. The Prime Minister asserted that the government’s policies and decisions are tailored to accommodate the needs and aspirations of all societal groups. He concluded by saying that the world recognizes and celebrates India’s accomplishments, understanding that India’s growth will contribute to global prosperity, portraying India as a positive force for driving global development.
