The Gang is involved in multiple heinous crimes such as Arms & drugs trafficking, Attempt to murder, Extortion and others FIR registered and Investigations on-going to establish backward & forward linkages
Disclosing the details, the police commissioner said that 14 cases are already pending against the gangster and he was involved in arms and drug trafficking, attempt to murder, extortion and other organized crimes.
He said that the police had received a tip-off that a gangster belonging to the Vicky Gounder gang was active in the city and was involved in several crimes including the supply of illegal arms in Jalandhar and other cities. Swapan Sharma said that the said person was also a fugitive criminal who was waiting to commit more crimes using these illegal weapons.
Commissioner of Police said that acting on the information and statement given by the informer, the team of Special Cell arrested the youth Surinder Kumar son of Somnath resident of Quarter No. 1, Jalandhar Municipal Corporation from the park near Johal Market, Model Town, Jalandhar.
He said that the police have also recovered a 32 bore pistol, a magazine and five cartridges. Swapan Sharma said that during the investigation, Surinder Kumar has confessed to be involved in many crimes.
Swapan Sharma said that the matter is being further investigated and details will be shared later.
