Mumbai: Kapil Sharma has addressed accusations of insulting producer-director Atlee during a recent episode of his streaming show, The Great Indian Kapil Show. The episode, featuring Atlee, Bollywood actor Varun Dhawan, and actress Wamiqa Gabbi, sparked controversy when some viewers claimed Kapil mocked Atlee’s appearance.
In response to a Twitter comment highlighting the alleged insult, Kapil stated he did not make any remarks about Atlee’s looks. He urged the commenter to clarify where he supposedly did so and requested that people refrain from spreading negativity online. “Please watch and decide for yourself, don’t blindly follow someone’s tweet,” he added.
During the episode, Varun playfully teased Kapil about his past conflict with fellow comedian Sunil Grover. The promo included a joke where Sunil told Varun, “You look like an original Baby John,” to which Kapil quipped, “You’re the duplicate; everyone else here is original.” Varun then humorously questioned why Kapil always seems to have conflicts at the airport.
The Great Indian Kapil Show features Kapil and his comedic team, including Sunil Grover, Kiku Sharda, Krushna Abhishek, and Rajiv Thakur. The show’s format is similar to his previous works, aimed at entertaining a broad audience through streaming. The luxurious set resembles an airport terminal, with Archana Puran Singh as a permanent guest.
