Ludhiana: Now the strictness has increased on the employees who remain absent from the Municipal Corporation office. After checking for 2 consecutive days by Mayor Inderjit Kaur to ensure that the employees reach the Municipal Corporation office on time in the morning and remain present throughout the day, it has been decided to increase the strictness on the sanitation workers who remain absent from duty.
In this regard, the green signal has been given to the sanitary inspectors of the four zones during the meeting called by him on the issue of improving the cleanliness system. The Mayor said that heaps of garbage should not be seen on roads, streets, public places, markets etc. and cleaning should be done properly for which the responsibility of the sanitation workers should be fixed and there is a need to take strict action against the sanitation workers who remain absent from duty. As far as the process of checking the attendance of sanitation workers is concerned, it has been decided to issue ID cards for it so that there is no fraud.
Complaints are being received about employees not coming to duty in both the shifts, which has been confirmed by the Vigilance recently arresting a numberdar on the charge of taking bribe from the Safai Karamchari in exchange for marking his attendance despite his not coming to duty. A part of this money is going from the sanitary inspector to the top, but every time instead of taking action against them, the matter is hushed up.
The campaign to issue challans to those who throw or burn garbage in the open will be intensified
The mayor has given instructions to intensify the campaign to issue challans to those who throw or burn garbage in the open, for which regular patrolling will be done on the banks of the drain as well. However, the employees cited protests and political pressure during such drives, on which the mayor said that if Ludhiana has to be made number one in terms of cleanliness, then action is necessary, but before issuing challans, he has said to make people aware and take the cooperation of councillors.
