Maha election results will impact upcoming polls in Delhi: Kailash Gahlot

New Delhi: Following the BJP-led MahaYuti alliance’s significant win in the Maharashtra Assembly elections, party leader Kailash Gahlot has stated that this outcome will affect the forthcoming Delhi elections, anticipated in early 2024.

Gahlot described the election results as a pivotal moment for both Maharashtra and the country as a whole. “Today is a monumental day for Maharashtra and the nation. The victory belongs to PM Modi and every BJP worker. The public has shown their faith in the BJP, which stands for progress. These results will also influence the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections,” he noted.

When discussing the Delhi polls, Gahlot emphasized that the people of Delhi deserve top-notch infrastructure and services, asserting that a BJP government is essential for the city’s development.

Earlier, Union Minister Piyush Goyal referred to the MahaYuti alliance’s triumph in Maharashtra as a positive indication that would further Prime Minister Modi’s vision of India becoming a developed nation by 2047. He stated that the people of Maharashtra have backed the good work of the Prime Minister and have rejected the appeasement politics of the Congress and the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA).

The MahaYuti alliance achieved a decisive victory in the Maharashtra polls, with the BJP, along with its allies Shiv Sena and NCP, making significant gains. The BJP secured 132 seats, while Shiv Sena, under Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, won 57 seats, and NCP, led by Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, claimed 41 seats in the 288-seat Assembly.

Conversely, the MVA coalition faced substantial setbacks, with Uddhav Thackeray’s Shiv Sena (UBT) winning only 20 seats, the Congress securing 16, and Sharad Pawar’s NCP (SCP) managing just 10 seats.

The BJP boasted an impressive strike rate, winning 133 of the 148 seats it contested in Maharashtra, and both of its allies also performed well. The Assembly elections in Maharashtra took place on November 20.
