Mumbai: Popular singer Monali Thakur has refuted recent claims suggesting she was rushed to hospital during a live performance at the Dinhata Festival in Cooch Behar on 21 January. She dismissed these reports as ‘entirely false’ and urged people not to exaggerate the situation, assuring her fans there was no cause for alarm.
Taking to her Instagram stories, Monali addressed the rumours, thanking her supporters for their concern while clarifying the inaccuracy of the claims. She categorically stated, “That’s false information,” and confirmed she has not experienced any breathing difficulties nor required hospitalisation.
The singer explained that her recent health issues were linked to a relapse of a viral infection, which had not fully resolved due to inadequate recovery time. This resulted in severe sinus and migraine pain, particularly during flights, but she reassured her followers that this was the extent of her health concerns.
Monali further confirmed that she is now back in Mumbai, where she is receiving treatment and taking time to rest. She expressed optimism about her recovery, assuring her fans that she will be “completely fine soon.”
Addressing media outlets and fans, Monali urged everyone to refrain from spreading unverified information, stating, “Let’s not make this bigger than it is, especially when there are much more important matters to focus on.” She also expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support she has received.
Earlier various reports had suggested that Monali faced health issues while performing the song Tune Mari Entriyan at the festival. It was claimed that after completing her performance, she apologised to the audience, explaining that she was unwell and unable to continue. Reportedly, Monali informed the organisers in advance about the possibility of the show being cancelled due to her condition.
Monali Thakur, who currently resides in Switzerland, is renowned for her chart-topping hits such as Sawar Loon, Moh Moh Ke Dhaage, Dhol Baaje, Cham Cham, and Badri Ki Dulhania.
