New Delhi: A 42-year-old woman and her 14-year-old son were found murdered by slashing their throats in Delhi’s Lajpat Nagar area on Wednesday night.

According to DCP South East Hemant Tiwari, a PCR call was made at 9:43 p.m. on July 2 by a man named Kuldeep, who reported that his wife and son were unresponsive to his calls. The door was locked, and bloodstains were observed on the gate and stairs.

The police and investigation teams arrived at the scene after the call. Kuldeep explained that blood was visible on the stairs and that his wife and son were not answering their phones. The SHO forcibly opened the gate, and inside, police found the bodies of a woman and a child.

The victims were identified as Ruchika Sewani, 42, who ran a clothing shop with her husband in Lajpat Nagar, and their son Krish, who was in Class 10.

The main suspect, Mukesh, a resident of Hajipur, Bihar, has been detained. He was arrested by Uttar Pradesh police from a train at Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay station. Mukesh was employed as a driver and helper at the garment shop.

The investigation is ongoing.
