Mumbai: Singer Neha Kakkar has finally broken her silence following the controversy surrounding her recent concert in Melbourne. Neha, who arrived three hours late to the show and was seen emotionally apologising to the audience, urged her fans to “wait for the truth”. On Thursday, 27 March, she posted a brief yet pointed message on her Instagram story, stating, “Wait for the truth, you’ll regret judging me so quickly,” accompanied by a sad emoji. However, Neha did not explain the reason for her delayed arrival, leaving fans curious about her side of the story.

The incident took place earlier this week when Neha was scheduled to perform in Melbourne. Upon arriving late, she was met with a disappointed audience, some of whom urged her to leave the stage. Despite her heartfelt apology, where she expressed regret for making her fans wait, the crowd was divided. While some cheered for her, others expressed anger, with remarks like, “This is not India, you’re in Australia,” and “We have been waiting for three hours.” A section of the audience even mocked her emotional display, comparing it to her performances on Indian Idol.

Neha’s brother, Tony Kakkar, later defended her through cryptic posts on social media. He criticised the backlash Neha faced and indirectly hinted at possible mismanagement by the event organisers. Tony posed a hypothetical situation, questioning who should be blamed if the promised arrangements—hotel bookings, transport, and tickets—were not provided. He further questioned the expectations placed on artists, asking, “Should only the artist maintain dignity, but not the audience?” As the controversy unfolds, Neha’s supporters continue to stand by her while awaiting further clarity.
