Nirmala Sitharaman to introduce banking law amendments in Parliament's winter session today

New Delhi: As the Winter Session of Parliament kicks off today, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present several bills, including the Banking Laws (Amendment) Bill. This bill seeks to amend the Reserve Bank of India Act of 1934, along with the Banking Regulation Act and the State Bank of India Act.

Additionally, the Finance Minister will introduce bills aimed at amending the Banking Companies (Acquisition and Transfer of Undertakings) Act of 1970 and the 1980 version of the same act.

According to the Lok Sabha’s agenda, Union Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw will also present the Railways (Amendment) Bill to further amend the Railway Act of 1989.

Jayant Chaudhary, Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship and Education, will provide an update on the implementation of recommendations from the 56th Report of the Standing Committee on Labour, Textiles, and Skill Development regarding the Skill Acquisition and Knowledge Awareness for Livelihood Promotion (SANKALP) Project.

Union Minister Faggan Singh Kulaste and National Commission for Scheduled Tribes Vice-Chairman Ananta Nayak will propose a motion to associate one Rajya Sabha member with the committees focused on the welfare of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes for the 2024-25 term, following the resignation of Krishan Lal Panwar from Rajya Sabha on October 14, 2024.

BJP MPs Rodmal Nagar and Ganesh Singh will also move a motion for the election of one Rajya Sabha member to the Committees on Welfare of Other Backward Classes for the 2024-2025 term, due to Beedha Masthan Rao Yadav’s resignation on August 29, 2024.

Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan will propose a motion for the election of two members to the Council of Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), in accordance with the Institutes of Technology Act of 1961.

Other ministers, including Gajendra Singh Shekhawat and Jayant Chaudhary, will present various papers in the Lok Sabha.

Meanwhile, Union Minister Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu will introduce the Bharatiya Vayuyan Vidheyak, 2024, which aims to regulate various aspects of aircraft design, manufacture, and operation.

BJP State President and Union Minister JP Nadda will move a motion for the election of a member to the National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro-Sciences (NIMHANS) in Bangalore.

Union Minister Manohar Lal will also propose a motion for the election of a member to the Advisory Council of the Delhi Development Authority (DADA).

Minister of State Veeranna Somanna will provide updates on the implementation of recommendations from the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Water Resources regarding the Ministry of Jal Shakti.

The Winter Session of Parliament will run from today, November 25, until December 20, with no sessions scheduled for November 26 in observance of “Constitution Day.”
