Only stable govt can solve Delhi’s issues, not a temporary CM: Alka Lamba

New Delhi: Alka Lamba, Congress candidate for the Kalkaji constituency in Delhi, criticized Chief Minister Atishi, arguing that only a stable and accountable government—not a “temporary CM”—can effectively tackle the challenges facing the national capital.

In an interview with IANS, Lamba expressed confidence in her campaign and took aim at both her opponents. She labeled AAP’s Atishi as a “temporary Chief Minister” and condemned BJP’s Ramesh Bidhuri for his controversial behavior.

“I believe my 30 years of dedication as a political and social activist from Delhi will resonate with voters. My goal is to gain the trust of the Kalkaji residents and provide lasting solutions to their issues,” she stated.

Lamba stressed that Delhi’s urgent problems require long-term, sustainable solutions rather than short-term fixes. She noted, “The challenges we face, including pollution, contaminated Yamuna water, rising crime rates, inflation, and unemployment, can only be addressed by a stable and accountable government. A temporary Chief Minister cannot resolve these issues. AAP’s leadership claims don’t reflect the reality in Kalkaji and surrounding areas. This constituency should be a model of development, but instead, it has suffered a decline.”

She pointed out specific concerns in Kalkaji: “Roads are still under construction, parking remains problematic, traffic congestion is severe, and garbage is accumulating everywhere. Both BJP and AAP have let down the people of Kalkaji, failing to fulfill their promises.”

Lamba also criticized BJP candidate Ramesh Bidhuri, saying, “Despite the BJP’s decade-long rule, the locals are still dissatisfied. Ramesh Bidhuri, known for his unacceptable language and behavior in Parliament and public, is not suitable to represent the people. Kalkaji deserves a leader who can truly resolve its issues effectively.”

In the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections, the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has nominated CM Atishi from Kalkaji, while the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has chosen former MP Ramesh Bidhuri. The Congress has selected Alka Lamba as its candidate, setting the stage for a competitive electoral battle.
