PM Modi Honors Savitribai Phule on her Birth Anniversary

New Delhi: On January 3, Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute to Savitribai Phule, a trailblazer in education and social reform, on her birth anniversary. He expressed that ‘Bharatbhumi’ takes pride in its remarkable daughters.

In a post on social media platform X, PM Modi acknowledged Phule’s vital role in women’s empowerment and education. He wrote, “Tributes to Savitribai Phule Ji on her birth anniversary. She is a beacon of women’s empowerment and a pioneer in education and social reform. Her efforts continue to inspire us as we strive for a better quality of life for all.”

In a video message, PM Modi elaborated on Phule’s visionary contributions, stating, “Whenever Savitribai Phule Ji’s name is mentioned, her unmatched efforts in education and social reform come to mind. She advocated fiercely for the education of women and the marginalized, challenging regressive beliefs. Together with Mahatma Phule Ji, she established schools for girls, laying the groundwork for societal advancement.”

He also praised her poetry, noting, “Her poems inspired motivation and self-confidence, urging people to support each other in times of need.” PM Modi concluded by calling for collective efforts to uphold Phule’s vision, wishing for a society where education empowers everyone and women lead with dignity.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah also commended Savitribai Phule for her contributions to women’s education and social equality, stating, “Whenever we discuss women’s education and social equality, Savitribai Phule’s name is mentioned with pride. She raised awareness of women’s rights and utilized education as a powerful tool for social reform, redefining women’s dignity.”

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge praised Phule’s groundbreaking work in advancing women’s education and championing the rights of the oppressed. He quoted her, saying, “Study to live with self-respect; school is the true jewel of a human being,” and offered humble tributes to the first female teacher in India, highlighting her fight for the rights of the deprived, Dalit, and marginalized communities.

Savitribai Phule remains a significant figure in India’s reform movement, known as the first female teacher in the country and a staunch advocate for equality and education. Her legacy continues to motivate generations to support education, social justice, and empowerment.
