Prashant Kishor accused of threatening BPSC candidates in Patna

Patna: Political strategist-turned-politician Prashant Kishor and his associates have faced accusations of intimidating Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) candidates during a protest in Gardanibagh, Patna. The incident reportedly took place early Monday after police used batons and water cannons to disperse the crowd, injuring several candidates.

A viral video has fueled allegations against Kishor, showing him allegedly leaving the protest site amid the police crackdown. Protesters expressed their disappointment, stating, “We do not want your help, sir. You left when the Patna police began lathi charging.” Kishor defended himself by claiming he had brought blankets for the candidates, suggesting they were ungrateful despite his assistance. However, the candidates countered that they never sought his help and perceived his comments as threats.

The tension escalated when Kishor allegedly threatened the candidates, warning them about “breaking their arrogance.” His team reportedly made direct threats, telling protesters to “not speak too much” or face potential removal, which many saw as an attempt to intimidate them, further fueling their anger.

The controversy has drawn sharp criticism from MP Rajesh Ranjan, also known as Pappu Yadav, who accused Kishor of being inexperienced in politics and condemned his alleged intimidation tactics. “Prashant Kishor has only recently entered the political arena and is already threatening candidates. He lacks genuine electoral capacity but continues to act arrogantly,” Yadav stated, questioning Kishor’s leadership and intentions.

Candidates have been protesting for over a week, demanding the cancellation of the Preliminary Examination conducted by the BPSC due to allegations of a question paper leak.
