New Delhi: President Droupadi Murmu awarded the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar to 17 exceptional children during a ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Thursday.

This prestigious award honors children aged 5 to 18 who have demonstrated outstanding abilities across seven categories: Bravery, Art & Culture, Environment, Innovation, Science & Technology, Social Service, and Sports, deserving of national recognition.

This year, 17 awardees (7 boys and 10 girls) from 14 different states and union territories were recognized.

Each recipient receives a medal, a certificate, and a citation booklet as part of the award.

In her address, President Murmu congratulated the awardees, expressing pride on behalf of the nation and society. She emphasized their extraordinary achievements and limitless potential, stating they serve as role models for other children.

She highlighted the importance of nurturing children’s talents as part of Indian tradition, urging that this practice be further enriched.

Looking ahead, she noted that by 2047, the centenary of India’s independence, the award winners will become enlightened citizens and contribute to building a developed nation.

President Murmu encouraged the children to embrace patriotism, stating that such a sentiment empowers both children and adults to commit to the welfare of their country.

The Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar is organized annually by the Union Ministry of Women & Child Development to celebrate the energy, determination, and enthusiasm of young children. Eligible candidates must be Indian citizens residing in India and not exceed the age of 18 as of the application deadline.
