The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has seized three properties belonging to designated terrorist Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, who is currently under investigation for six different cases. The properties include his share of a house in Chandigarh, 46 kanal of land in his ancestral village of Khankot in Amritsar, and an additional land parcel of 11 kanal and 13.5 marlas in Sultanwind, Amritsar.
Among the six cases being pursued by the NIA is one filed on November 20, 2023, concerning Pannun’s video message on social media in which he threatened Air India with a global blockade and the cessation of its operations starting November 19, coinciding with the birthday of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.
The anti-terror agency has charged Pannun under multiple legal provisions, including Sections 120B, 153A, and 506 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and several sections of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act of 1967, specifically Sections 10, 13, 16, 17, 18, 18B, and 20.
Pannun, who identifies himself as the “general counsel” for the banned group Sikhs for Justice (SFJ), has issued and shared video messages across various social media platforms, encouraging Sikhs to avoid traveling with Air India from November 19, 2023, due to alleged threats to their safety.
