Jalandhar: Contractors of National Highway Authority in Punjab have received death threats. This threat was received by the contractors constructing Delhi-Amritsar-Katra Express Way. On the complaints of the NHAI contractors Chief Secretary Punjab Anurag Aggarwal has takes serious cognizance and write to DGP Punjab Police that lodge FIR against the culprits immediately.
NHAI contractors allege that they are receiving threats of being burnt alive. Apart from this, some contractors’ employees were even beaten up. During this, some names are also coming to the fore. 2 cases have been mentioned in the letter written by NHAI.
The NHAI contractors said that if action is not taken in this matter, they will stop work of Bharat Mala Project. Sources have revealed that the contractors allege that this problem is occurring in Jalandhar and Ludhiana areas. They have also mentioned some names.
Some land mafias may be behind this. The contractors had raised this matter before the officials of National Highway Authority of India (NHAI). After receiving the Contractors complaint, NHAI officers approach the Chief Secretary Anurag Aggarwal. On this, the Chief Secretary of Punjab has ordered the DGP to take strict action against the culprits.
Police took no action
On July 20, Manish Sharma was brutally beaten by the villagers. He has also given some pictures to the government officials, in which the incident can be guessed. An FIR was registered in this case. However, the accused were granted bail from the spot itself.
The accused have mentioned the names of 2 contractors and threatened to burn alive the workers working under them. However, no action was taken in this case. They have appealed to the police for protection.
