Chandigarh: Apart from Chandigarh, the Meteorological Department has issued an alert in 11 districts of Punjab today i.e. Saturday. On Friday, the sun did not shine in most districts of Punjab due to fog, after which the day temperature has seen a decrease of 3.7 degrees. The maximum temperature of Punjab is 4.1 degrees below normal. At the same time, a decrease of 3.1 degrees was seen in Chandigarh. At the same time, the timings of schools in Chandigarh have been changed.

An alert has been issued in 11 districts of Punjab. Out of which dense fog is likely to prevail in Amritsar, Gurdaspur and Tarn Taran. Visibility here can be less than 50 meters. At the same time, an alert has been issued regarding rain in 8 districts Fazilka, Faridkot, Muktsar, Moga, Bathinda and Barnala. There are chances of thunderstorms along with rain and lightning here.

School timings changed in Chandigarh till January 18

The Education Department of Chandigarh Administration has issued an order to change the school timings keeping in mind the cold and dense fog. This change will be applicable from January 13, 2025 to January 18, 2025. The timing of students for single shift classes in government and aided schools has been fixed from 9:30 am to 2:30 pm, while the timing of classes from sixth to above in double shift schools will also be the same. The time has been fixed from 12:30 pm to 3:30 pm for classes first to fifth. The duty time of teachers will be from 8:45 am to 2:45 pm.

Private schools have been instructed not to hold classes before 9:30 am and after 3:30 pm. However, they have been given the freedom to decide the time as per their convenience. Apart from this, classes can be started from 9:00 am if required for pre-board examinations. Teachers have been instructed to ensure that whatever is left in the syllabus, work is done with the children to complete it.

Weather change due to western disturbance

A western disturbance has become active near the Iran border. Due to which a change in weather is being seen in many districts of Punjab today. According to the Meteorological Department, due to this western disturbance, fog is being seen in Punjab for the last few days. At the same time, the effect of this fog is expected to remain till January 14.

At the same time, after Saturday being cloudy, the effect of fog will be seen in the coming days. Along with this, the temperature of Punjab-Chandigarh will drop by 3 degrees.
