Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann in a post on X condemned the protests that block roads, railways, or disrupt daily life, warning of strict legal action while suggesting alternative ways to protest, amid ongoing tensions with farmers and other groups in Punjab. Punjab CM’s post on X came ahead of Farmers’ call to protest outside the Shambhu police station.

Warning all organisations and unions, CM Bhagwant Mann said that people should not be harassed in name of protest. He further suggested that alternate ways should be used to lodge a protest. He said, “All institutions, organizations and unions should pay attention. There are other ways to protest, it is not right to just harass people.”

He also warned for strict legal action if directions are not followed.

Farmers Protest on May 6

For the unversed, Farmers have decided to protest against the unjab Government and called for a sit-in outside the Shambhu Police Station. Today, Farmer leaders claimed that several Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM) leaders, including Jagjit Singh Dallewal, Dilbagh Singh and others, were put under house arrest on  the orders of the Punjab government.

As per farmers, the protest was against the state government’s alleged use of cruel methods to remove agitating farmers from their protest morchas in March from the Khanauri border. Farmers are also demanding strict action against those people who stole many of their belongings when they were removed from their morchas.
