Russia imposes entry ban on 30 British nationals

Moscow: The Russian Foreign Ministry has announced an entry ban for 30 British citizens, citing “hostile actions” from the UK as the reason for this measure.

The list of those sanctioned includes prominent figures from the UK’s political sphere, military organizations, high-tech industries, and media outlets. Notable names on the list are Deputy Prime Minister Angela Rayner, Chancellor of the Exchequer Rachel Reeves, and Home Secretary Yvette Cooper.

Russia plans to expand this sanctions list further in response to ongoing tensions with the UK, as stated by the Ministry.

Earlier on the same day, the Russian Foreign Ministry summoned the British ambassador and lodged a protest following the expulsion of a British diplomat, Wilkes Edward Prior. He was accused of espionage and providing false information on his documents, with the Federal Security Service (FSB) ordering him to leave Russia within 48 hours.

Moscow criticized London for allegedly promoting “aggressive anti-Russian rhetoric,” implementing “illegitimate unilateral sanctions,” and supporting what it described as the “neo-Nazi Kyiv regime.”

In response, the UK government condemned the Russian actions, labeling the accusations as “malicious and baseless,” and promised to address the situation appropriately. A spokesperson for the Foreign Office stated, “This is not the first time Russia has made such unfounded allegations against our staff. We will respond in due course.”
