Mumbai: Hansal Mehta, fresh from the success of The Buckingham Murders (2023), is set to collaborate with Saif Ali Khan for the first time. The acclaimed filmmaker revealed the news during the Cinevesture International Film Festival in Chandigarh, sharing that the project is an adaptation of a book. Mehta’s previous collaboration with Kareena Kapoor Khan in The Buckingham Murders was not only her first project with him but also her debut as a producer. Now, her husband Saif Ali Khan is ready to take centre stage in Mehta’s upcoming venture, which promises to explore new creative horizons.
Despite his upcoming collaboration with Saif, Hansal Mehta remains eager to work with Kareena Kapoor Khan again. He admitted that every time he encounters a new script, he considers the possibility of involving Kareena, describing her as “a different beast altogether.” Praising her professionalism and dedication on set, Mehta likened working with the superstar to collaborating with talented actors such as Pratik Gandhi and Rajkummar Rao. He mentioned that a script has already been sent to Kareena, hinting at the possibility of another exciting project with her.
Hansal Mehta’s slate of upcoming projects is packed with variety. Along with the film adaptation with Saif, he is working on his ambitious web series Gandhi and an action film, though he has remained tight-lipped about the cast. Additionally, Mehta recently launched his own production house, which is already bustling with several projects, including an outrageous comedy, a slasher film, a zombie flick, and an unusual love story. With so much in the pipeline, Mehta is set to continue making waves in Indian cinema.
