Shantanu Maheshwari: I always wanted to do a Bengali film

Mumbai: Actor Shantanu Maheshwari is excited to make his Bengali film debut with “Chaalchitro,” a project he has long aspired to undertake. He expressed that this opportunity, facilitated by director Pratim Dasgupta, is a significant way for him to connect with his roots.

“Chaalchitro” is set in a cop universe filled with action, thrill, and mystery, and Shantanu plays the role of a police officer, which is a new experience for him. He highlighted the extensive action sequences he had to perform and the technical skills he learned for filming these scenes. Although initially challenged by the need to become more fluent in Bengali, he found support from his team made the process easier. He described the shooting experience as enjoyable and is eager to see the audience’s reaction.

Shantanu was last seen in “Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha,” alongside stars like Ajay Devgn, Tabu, Jimmy Sheirgill, and Saiee Manjrekar. He gained popularity for his role as Swayam Shekhawat in the youth dance show “Dil Dosti Dance,” which was the first dance-based fiction series on Indian television, focusing on themes of friendship and love among students at St. Louis College. The show also starred Kunwar Amar, Sneha Kapoor, Shakti Mohan, Vrushika Mehta, and Vrinda Dawda.

He also won the eighth season of “Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi” and represented India as part of the Desi Hoppers dance crew, which won the World of Dance Championship in Los Angeles. In 2022, he made his Bollywood debut in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s “Gangubai Kathiawadi,” featuring Alia Bhatt.
