Noida, July 19:‘If I die, the PCP and dental medical teachers will be responsible for it. Mahendra Sir and Sherry Ma’am are responsible for my death. They tortured me mentally, humiliated me. I have been in depression for a long time because of them. I want them to suffer the same. Sorry… I can’t live anymore.’
Jyoti Sharma, a student of Sharda University, Greater Noida, wrote these things in her suicide note. She committed suicide by hanging herself at 7 pm on Friday.
The body of a girl student was found hanging from a fan in a room on the 12th floor of Mandela Girls Hostel. The incident came to light when a fellow student went to the room. When she saw, the door was locked from inside. When she pushed the door, it opened. Then she informed the police and the warden.
As soon as the news of Jyoti’s suicide spread, students gathered and started creating a ruckus. They took out a procession and raised slogans against the university administration. The students also had an altercation with the police who arrived on the information. On the other hand, the university suspended the two teachers, Mahendra and Sherry, whom the student has accused in the suicide note. The police have arrested both of them.
Additional DCP of Greater Noida Sudhir Kumar said-
Based on the complaint of the family, two people have been arrested. They are being questioned. Further action will be taken after the investigation.
Know the whole matter
Jyoti Sharma, 21, a second year Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) student, was a resident of Block-C, Ashok Vihar, Lane Number-B6, Gurugram. She has a brother and a sister. Her father is a private job holder. According to the students, 3 other students live with Jyoti on the 12th floor of the hostel. Jyoti was alone in the room on Friday evening. Her fellow students had gone out.
Around 7 pm a student came. When she saw, the door of the room was locked from inside. The student told the police that the door opened after she pushed it twice. When she looked, Jyoti was hanging from the noose, then she informed the warden and other students about it.
Jyoti was shooed out of the department for 3 days
Students said- Jyoti was accused of making a fake signature, due to which she was very upset. She was shooed out of the PCP (Pre Clinical Prosthetist) department for three consecutive days on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. The file was given to the HOD.
HOD sir had said- call your parents, you signed the file yourself. Her parents came on Monday, then Jyoti got her file back. On Friday evening she was crying a lot. She was being threatened of failing. Students said- how can anyone bear so much torture?
Mother said- Today we will not leave the protest till I get justice
She said, We will not leave from here till this university is sealed. My daughter has been killed and hanged. Daughter was in depression. We did not talk to daughter the whole day yesterday. She used to call me every day at 4 o’clock after returning from college. Yesterday when I called my daughter, her call was not received.
The daughter was taken down from the noose without the police coming. There are 100 BDS students in this college. All the students say that they don’t want to study here. The students have also called their parents. The students say that they will go home with their parents.
