Siddhivinayak temple treasurer reveals reason behind dress code directive

Mumbai: The Siddhivinayak Temple in Mumbai is set to implement a new dress code starting this Friday, and Acharya Pawan Tripathi has shared the reasoning behind this decision.

The temple’s management has stated that visitors wearing skirts, jeans, or revealing clothing will not be allowed entry. To ensure decorum at this significant religious site, the temple will provide clothing for those who don’t comply with the dress code, allowing them to appropriately cover up before proceeding with their darshan (viewing of the deity).

Tripathi mentioned that the temple is a major place of faith for Sanatanis and Ganesh devotees from around the world, attracting hundreds of thousands daily. He noted some devotees expressed concerns about inappropriate attire among certain visitors. In response, the temple’s trust board decided to enforce a dress code to ensure that everyone is dressed respectfully and dignified.

He stressed that while specific clothing types aren’t prohibited, visitors are expected to wear modest, full-cover attire. A sign will be placed at the temple, and awareness will be raised through social media and other channels. Over time, Tripathi believes visitors will naturally adhere to the dress code out of respect for the sacred space.

Ultimately, this initiative aims to promote the temple’s sanctity and uphold the values of devotion and reverence it embodies.
