SpiceJet Amritsar-Dubai flight cancelled amid Middle East crisis

Amritsar, June 24: The increasing tension in the Middle East region and the closure of airspace have started affecting the international flights of Indian airlines. Its effect was also seen on the flights of Amritsar airport on Tuesday.

SpiceJet Airlines has cancelled flight SG-55 from Amritsar to Dubai. This flight was scheduled to depart from Amritsar airport at 9:15 am. The airline has warned that some of their other flights may also be partially affected due to the current circumstances.

This air route is important for hundreds of expatriate Indians from Punjab who regularly travel to Dubai for employment and family reasons. Passengers are facing inconvenience due to the cancellation of the flight.

SpiceJet issued a statement

SpiceJet said in an official statement issued on Monday – Due to the closure of airspace in the Middle East, some of our flights may be affected. We advise passengers to visit our official website or contact our helpline numbers to know the status of their flight.

Other flights could also face route diversions, delays, or cancellations if the security situation in the Middle East does not improve soon. In particular, flights to Gulf countries such as the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Bahrain are being monitored extra closely.
