Hyderabad, July 19: Telugu actor and comedian Fish Venkat died at a hospital in Hyderabad on Friday. Mangalampalli Venkat Raj, popularly known as Fish Venkat, was 53 years old.
According to a report by 123 Telugu, Venkat had been suffering from serious kidney ailments for several months. He was admitted to the hospital after his condition worsened.
Doctors had advised an immediate kidney transplant. During the treatment, he was also put on dialysis and a ventilator, but his health did not improve.
Let us tell you that Venkat has worked in more than 100 films during his career. He started his career with director Dasari Narayan Rao’s film ‘Sammakka Sarakka’.
Venkat’s roles in films like Khushi, Bunny, Shivam, Gabbar Singh, DJ Tillu, Slum Dog Husband and Coffee with a Killer were well received by the audience.
According to the Indian Express report, recently, Venkat’s daughter Sravanti had appealed for financial help for a kidney transplant. Its estimated cost was said to be around Rs 50 lakh. Meanwhile, there were some rumours that actor Prabhas had helped, but the family denied it.
Venkat’s family told Suman TV, “Nothing like this actually happened. We are answering every call to get help. Someone called posing as Prabhas Anna’s assistant. Later, it was found out that it was fake. Prabhas doesn’t even know anything about this. We haven’t received any financial help till now.”
However, some people did help. Actor Pawan Kalyan donated Rs 2 lakh. Actor Vishwak Sen and a minister from Telangana also provided financial help, but a kidney donor could not be found on time.
Fish Venkat is survived by his wife and three children. This is the third big loss for the Telugu film industry after the recent demise of Kota Srinivasa Rao and Ravi Teja’s father Rajagopal Raju.
